  STAFF COUNCIL

The staff council renders much help in administrative matters and is committed to safeguarding the interest of the college in general and the teachers in particular. Mr. Joy Joseph is the Staff Secretary and Mr Abis V Cherusserry, the Staff Representative. Some of the activities of this body are the following:

A sent off was given and a memento was presented to Sri. K D Sebastian, UD Clerk, who retired in August 2002. Mr Joy Joseph attended a three day training on “Adolescent Education and Counselling” organized by the Population, Education Resource Centre of the University of Kerala. Inspired by the experience there, Mr Joy Joseph advocated for a similar programme for the teachers here and it materialized on 18th November 2002 - Dr Girish K, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Centre, Thiruvananthapuram delivered a lecture on “Adolescent Psychology and Counselling”.

As a force that unifies the teaching and non teaching staff, the staff council initiated the joint celebration of Christmas during which Fr George Kalathil CMI gave the message and Rev. Fr Hermenegild CMI, the senior most priest in the monastery, cut the Christmas cake.

On the demise of any close relative of any member of the staff, the staff council follows the precedent of visiting the family and paying homage to the departed. This year, there were six such occasions.

With the co-operation of Alumni Association, the staff council arranged for “Guruvandanam”, a programme to honour the retired teachers from the college on 15th February 2003. It turned out to be a memorable confluence of generations.
