Scholarships/Prizes

    There are more than thirty scholarships/prizes awarded annually to students who excel in academic and athletic fields. Most of these scholarships have been instituted, as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude to eminent teachers and administrators, by their colleagues and students. There are also a few scholarships instituted by friends and relatives of former students every year.
    ENGLISH

  1. Rev. Fr. Theodosius Memorial Scholarship, instituted by the management, staf and public in hnour of late Fr. Theodocius, the first principal of the College, is awarded to  the degree student who secures the highest  marks in Part I English (Paper I, II and III  together)
  2. Fr. Shabor Memorial Scholarship for final year MA English student with the highest marks in previous year
  3. Prof. Sheppard Memorial Scholarship for the student with the highest marks in final year MA English
  4. Fr. Reynolds Jubilee Memorial Scholarship for final year BA English student with the highest marks in Part III English in the first and second years
  5. Prof. P K G Vijayaram Endowment Scholarship for outgoing final year MA English student with the highest total marks in the final year
  6. Prof. P K G Vijayaram Endowment Scholarship for outgoing Final Year MA English student with the highest total marks in the previous year
  7. Prof. P K G Vijayaram Endowment Scholarship for outgoing final year BA English student with the highest total marks in the final year BA English main examination
  8. Prof. P Jayendran Endowment Scholarship instituted by his colleagues and PG Students for MA English student with the highest marks in American Literature.
  9. Prof. P Jayendran Endowment Scholarship instituted by his colleagues and PG Students for final year BA English student with the highest mark in the first and second years main papers
  10. Prof. T.K. Mani Memorial Scholarship, instituted by his family is awarded to the Final Year Degree student who secures the highest marks in Part I English Examination(paper I, II, and III together).

  11. Fr. Hormice Jubilee Scholarship for the second year Degree student with the highest marks in Malayalam as second language

  14. Prof. P K Achan Scholarship for first year B.Sc. Physics student with the highest marks in Pre Degree Physics
  15. Sri. K D Joseph Memorial Endowment Scholarship for Three students in the Physics Department for overall performance
  16. Kilukkan Memorial Endowment Scholarship for Final year M.Sc. Physics student with the highest marks in the previous semesters

    CHEMISTRY
  17. Vinesh S Shah Memorial Endowment Scholarship for final year B.Sc. Chemistry student with the highest marks in the first and second year examinations
  18. Diljit Memorial Endowment Scholarship for the first year B.Sc. Chemistry student with the highest marks in first year examinations including Main, Subsidiaries and Languages
  19. Rev. fr. Dr. M T james Endowment, instituted by the Dept. of Chemistry, in honour of Fr. Dr. M T James, former principal and Lecturer in Chemistry, is awarded to the student who secures highest marks in MSc Chemistry.
  20. Prof. Jose Thomas Ancheril Scholarship instituted by his family, is awarded to the Final BSc.Chemistry Student scoring the highest marks in Part III Chemistry (Main) Examination.


    BOTANY
  21. Renuka Sivarama Iyer Scholarship for final year M.Sc. student with the highest marks in the previous year
  22. Prof. Mathew Thamarakkad Endowment Scholarship for final year M.Sc. Botany student securing First or Second rank in the university examination

  26. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kazhunnady Memorial Scholarship, instituted by his friends, is awarded to the student who gets the highest marks in BSc Zoology (Main and Subsidiary subjects together)

    COMMERCE
  27. Fr. Bennet Kurian Memorial Scholarship for the final year B.Com. student with the highest marks in the first and second years in Part III
  28. Fr. Bennet Kurian Memorial Scholarship for the most deserving student selected by the Department on merit cum means basis
  29. Prof. Krishna Murthy Memorial Scholarship for the final year B.Com. student with the highest marks in the first and second years in Part III

     SOCIAL WORK
  33. Swami Vivekananda Award, instituted by Sri. Ramachandra Bhat, is awarded to the university rank holders in MSW examination.
  34. Koyapathody Jameela Memorial Award, instituted by Mr. K.C. Jamshad in memory of his mother , is awarded to the MSW student who produces the best dissertation as part of the post graduate programme.
  35. Bhima Bhattar Memorial Award, instituted by Mr. G.B. Kiran in memory of his grandfather, is awarded to the MSW student who secures the highest marks in the university examination.
  36. Leeladhar Kamat Memorial Award, instituted by Mr. Nityanand Kamat in memory of his father, is awarded to the best MSW student, based on his/her overall performance.
     PHYSICAL EDUCATION
  37. Jimmy George Foundation Scholarship for the Best All-rounder in sports in the college
  38. Kaniampady Joy Sports Scholarship for the Champion in the college sports

    GENERAL
  39. Liju Varkey Kelamkunnel Memorial Scholarship for University rank holders from the college
  40. Thomas Sebastian Memorial Award for the Best Performer in B Zone competitions
  41. Sreejith M Memorial Endowment Scholarship for the Best NSS Camper
  42. Sreejith M Memorial Endowment Scholarship for the Best Performing NSS Volunteer in the College
  43. Bishop Sebastian Vallopilly Sacradotal Jubilee Scholarship instituted by the Bishop of Tellicherry, is awarded to the Catholic student of undivided Thalassery Diocese who is admitted to the First Year Degree class with the highest marks in Plus Two or equivalent examination.
  44. Joel Memorial Endowment, instituted by his parents in memory of their son Joel Lee Joe, a former student of this college, is awarded to two best students of the college, based on merit­cum-means and overall performance.
  45. Devagiri College Golden Jubilee Scholarships, instituted by the College, are awarded to: (i) the Final Year Degree students of all main disciplines, securing the highest marks in first and second year part III main papers; (ii) the final year Degree students securing the highest marks in part II Second Language (Malayalam, Hindi and French).
  46. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vayalil Endowment, instituted by the PTA 2006-2007 in his honour, is awarded to the best outgoing degree student from each Department, identified by the respective Departments subject to the approval by the principal, on the basis of: (i) good character and conduct; (ii) consistently good academic activities; (iii) performance in the III year terminal examinations; (iv) involvemei.t in co-curricular activities.
  47. Rev. Fr. Joseph Vayalil Endowment, instituted by the Advocates Alumni Association in his honour, is awarded to the deserving, physically handicapped student or, in his/her absence, to the student with good conduct and academic excellence, identified by the principal in consultation with the Departments.
  48. Rev. Fr. Mathew Chalil Prizes, instituted by the N.S.S.units of Devagiri College, are awarded every year to: i) the first place holder in Rev. Fr. Mathew Chalil Elocution Competition (Rs.1000) ; (ii) the second place holder (Rs. 500) ;(iii) the third place holder (Rs.250) ; and (iv) the college represented by the first place holder (Ever Rolling Trophe).
  49. St. Joseph's College Union 1988-89 Scholarship, instituted by the College Union of the year 1988-89, is awarded to the student who is the best performer in stage items of B- Zone Kalotsav.
