NSS is
very active and dedicated in this college. It has three units
with a strength of 100 volunteers each, with Mr P.I. John,
Mr Shibi M Thomas and Mr Joby K Jose as Programme Officers.
Some of the activities of NSS are enumerated below:
1. Construction
of a much needed waste pit in the college campus;
2. Orientation
programme for freshers on 3 August 2002 which was enlivened
by Mr Devanand and Mr Bijulona of the University of Calicut;
3. Onam
celebrations on 18 August 2002 made colourful by flower-carpet
competition, and unforgettable for variety entertainments
and payasam distribution;
4. Ten-day
annual camp at Agasthyamoozhy with its accent on the construction
of a playground for Pratheeksha Rehabilitation School for
mentally retarded children.
5. Organising
Guruvandanam as part of Teachers Day Celebrations on
5 September 2002 with Dr Sukumar Azhikode as the chief guest.
6. Observation
of National Integration Day on 19 November 2002 and, along
with it, conducting the All-Kerala Inter-collegiate Elocution
Competition for Fr Mathew Chalil Trophy
7. Organising
a nature camp at Muthanga wild life sanctuary for three days
from 19 November 2002, under the guidance of Mr Joby K Jose
and with a participation of 25 volunteers.
8. Conducting
a three-day orientation camp, inaugurated by Dr K.V Mohanan,
the NSS Co-ordinator of the University of Calicut.
9. Active
participation in the mass greening programme of the Govt of
Kerala, and periodic cleaning of Beach Hospital Premises.
